Making is my way of keeping my mind sharp, my hands busy, and my stress levels to a minimum. I knit, design shawl patterns, embroider and cross-stitch. Hibernating and past hobbies include sewing, weaving, and jewelry making.

Never found a hobby I didn’t like! I relish working with graphic shapes and bold, saturated colors—except for my clothing; I’m a soft summer.

The Knitting Pirate has been obsessed with yarn and string for approximately forever, beginning with knotting embroidery floss into friendship bracelets and weaving scarves on a plastic loom (hey, it was the 80s). Pirate learned to knit at eight, but didn't really pick it up as a hobby until twenty years later. Other string- and fabric-related hobbies include inkle and card weaving, embroidery, sewing, quilting, and yes, the occasional friendship bracelet.
